Welcome to the Dean of Students Office at Allegheny College

The Dean of Students Office oversees the out-of-classroom experiences of students in an effort to develop independent, civic-minded, and responsible adults.  The Dean of Students staff is available to guide students and parents to resolve complex issues and provide resources to enhance the Allegheny experience.

The thirteen offices that report to the Dean of Students focus on various elements of student life.  The Religious Life Office encourages spiritual guidance and fellowship.  The Diversity Affairs Office and Student Activities Office work with student organizations to create a sense of community on campus by offering educational, cultural, and social programs.  The Office of Safety and Security and the Office of Residence Life are responsible for student welfare and living arrangements.  The Health Center and the Counseling Center provide physical and mental health support and provide referrals to local resources for students.  Allegheny's Center for Experiential Learning (ACCEL), which incorporates Career Services, Community Service and Service Learning, Health Professions Advising, the Leadership Program, and International Programs and Services, offers opportunities for personal and intellectual growth. Athletics & Recreation encourages students to pursue personal growth in the areas of sports, wellness, outdoor programming and recreational activities. The Office of Student Activities promotes student involvement and campus programming. While the Learning Commons does not directly report to the Dean of Students, we maintain close programmatic ties with this department to help support students.

The Dean of Students staff supports the educational mission of the College.  The Student Conduct Process encourages academic and personal integrity through the Honor Code and the Non-academic Conduct Process.  Our Wellness Initiatives foster the holistic development of positive life-long habits.  We provide resources for parents, manage student leaves and withdrawals, and serve as a campus resource for students.
